Tuesday Update

Since Saturday, Adeline has taken all of her feedings by mouth - either via bottle or nursing.  She is doing great and has developed a routine of eating every 3 hours and napping in between.  She has continued to gain weight, and weighs 1950 grams, which is a little over 4 lbs, 4 oz.  Because she has done so well with feedings, she has graduated from an isolete to a crib!

Her temperature is monitored every 3 hours to make sure she can regulate her body temperature in the open crib, and she needs to continue to gain weight.  Once she has proven she can do this for a few days, she just has a few more tests to do and then she can come home!  They will do a hearing screening (done on all newborns in VA), a carseat test (to make sure she can breathe properly in the slumped position in her carseat), and some other routine medical tests.  We are still on track for her to come home sometime around this weekend.
