10 Months

Adeline is 10 months old!
This month, she started talking a lot more.  She says mama, dada, baba, and uh-oh frequently, but also likes to imitate sounds. As always, she loves to be around people - especially other children.  She laughs and claps her hands every morning when we get to Miss Chris' house!

She can feed herself a bottle, and is starting to drink milk from a sippy cup.  Her favorite foods are Cheerios and yogurt, but she also eats all kinds of fruits, veggies, and chicken. She is excellent at sitting, and can lean over to reach toys and scoot in a circle.  She hasn't really tried crawling yet, but occasionally gets herself stuck in different positions when she tries to reach for toys.  She is learning the meaning of the word "no", and shakes her head back and forth when I say no to her.  (Which makes me laugh... so its not very effective!)

Adeline weighs 20 lbs, which is the 50th percentile for her actual age, and she is in the 60th percentile for height! (she is in the 98th percentile for her adjusted age)

This month, we had a followup appointment with the Developmental Assessment Clinic, and we were happy with how she ranked on the various tests.  As anticipated, she is above her age norms for social skills and fine motor, but slightly behind for gross motor.  (a typical girl!)

And thank goodness - Adeline's hair is finally long enough that I can keep it somewhat controlled!

 love this face!

 feeding herself!

Wearing her first bow this week! I was so excited that her hair is finally long enough!

And look how much she's grown!  I think the change from 8 months to 10 months is most drastic.

The weather was beautiful here this weekend. On Friday night, we had our first official babysitter stay home with Adeline while Rob and I went to dinner with friends.  On Saturday, we spent most of the day at home and had friends over for dinner, and then we spent most of Sunday outdoors too.  It was a great weekend! Here is Adeline enjoying some time on the patio on Saturday:

Trip to Florida

The first weekend of March, we flew down to West Palm Beach to visit Rob's grandparents, who live in Palm Beach Gardens.
Since we didnt have a direct flight, Adeline was awake for the majority of the time.  She did pretty well, but it wasnt easy to entertain her in such close quarters!  We had a tight connection in Atlanta, and ended up running through the airport to make our flight to Florida.  On the second flight, Adeline slept for the first hour or so, and then ended up accidently spilling our drink all over our laps, leaving Rob with a large pink stain on his pants.  We werent too concerned about it until we arrived in Florida and realized our luggage and car seat didnt make it onto our flight. Luckily, Delta had a loaner carseat and we just had to return to the airport a few hours later to retrieve our things. (mental note: do not order cranberry juice on a plane with a baby.  Only clear liquids from now on.)

Despite the crazy morning, we had a nice lunch with Rob's grandparents and then went to the hotel pool in the afternoon

On Saturday, we had breakfast with Rob's grandparents and then picked up Rob's friend from college, Neil, for the Honda Classic golf tournament.  This was our second time going to the tournament, and this year it was a huge event because Tiger Woods played. The weather was warm and beautiful, and we had a great day. Adeline loved being in her stroller and watching all the people.

We had a early dinner on the water, and then headed back to Rob's grandparent's house for the evening.

Sunday was cooler and stormy, so we had breakfast with Rob's aunt and uncle, toured Gram and Grandad's new apartment, and relaxed all afternoon.  Unfortunately, we didnt have time to go to the beach this year.

We flew back on Monday afternoon, and this time Adeline slept the whole time! Phew!
We had such a great weekend in warm, sunny Florida.  We just wish we could have stayed longer.  Thanks for your generous hospitality, Gram and Grandad!

Visit from Lisa and Kalie

At the end of February, my Aunt Lisa and cousin Kalie came to visit from NJ.  They arrived on a Thursday evening, and Friday happened to be the warmest day of the year so far!  We had a great day shopping, touring around Richmond, and just enjoying the sunshine! Lisa and Kalie had never been to Richmond, so it was fun to show them why we love living here!

Thanks for a fun weekend, Lisa and Kalie!

By Monday, we had snow!  What crazy weather we've had this year!
