Back to Work

I returned to work this week.  It was hard to leave Adeline, but great to see all of my coworkers again. They have been so supportive and so sweet.  One co-worker even made dinner for us on my first day back, which made that first evening SO much easier! (Thanks Trine!)

Plus, how could I worry when Miss Chris sends me pictures like this?

She looks pretty darn happy!  And I know she is in great hands.  I miss her SO much during the day, and when I pick her up from Miss Chris' house, I just hold and squeeze her and relish her baby smell.  But I am confident that she is well cared for and that makes it all much easier.

So glad it is Friday tomorrow... looking forward to lots of quality time with our sweet baby this weekend.

3 Months Old!

Adeline is 3 months old today!  We took her monthly picture early this morning, since this was her first day in childcare with Miss Chris.  In anticipation of going back to work on Wednesday, I decided to ease myself into the transition by dropping her off for a few hours on Monday and Tuesday this week.  I had a few tears last night just thinking about it, but this morning went smoothly and Miss Chris sweetly sent me a picture via text message so I knew Adeline was just fine.

She weighs about 10 lbs now.  She's able to hold her head when she's propped in a sitting position, and she loves to practice lifting her head when she is lying on our shoulders. When we smile at her, she smiles back. She has slept through the night a few times, but usually wakes up around 3am because she is hungry.  After we feed her, she goes right back to sleep until 6 or 7am.

First Trip to the Beach!

We spent the weekend in Oak Island, NC with Rob's parents and sister and her family.  It was Adeline's first trip to the beach, her first time wearing a bathing suit, her first time in her jogging stroller, and her first time meeting her cousin Cooper - lots of firsts!

 It's so great that Cooper (6 months) and Adeline are so close in age. We are looking forward to lots of fun times together as they grow and interact more. It wasn't easy, but we got some cute pictures of them together. I'll spare you the out-takes, but imagine dualing crying babies and looks of desperation.

We celebrated Bob and Molly's anniversary while we were there with the most delicious cake!

It was a great weekend of relaxation, good meals, and wonderful company.

Logan and Rich visit

On Saturday, Logan and Rich drove down from Washington DC to meet Adeline.

We went out to lunch and had fun just chatting and catching up with them. (L & R: Thank you for coming, it was great to see you and we really appreciate you making the trip!!)

After they left to head back to DC, Rob and I went to buy a baby swing for Adeline.  We found a great deal at a local consignment shop, and she loves it!

She is also getting really good at sitting in the bumbo chair!

Later this week we are headed to the beach, so I am starting to get organized and decide what we will need.  Next week, I am headed back to work....  where has the time gone?!

Weekend Recap and More

This weekend, my mom came to visit since Rob was out of town.  While we were doing this:

I'm glad I made the decision to stay home with Adeline and not travel to Atlanta, but I'm sad I missed the wedding and the chance to meet some of Rob's relatives I've never met.  As expected, Beth looked gorgeous and everyone had a great time!


My mom stayed until today, and we had fun just spoiling Adeline and doing some shopping. Adeline had some big milestones this week!  On Monday, she sat in her bumbo seat for the first time and was able to hold up her head!

On Tuesday night, she stayed home with my mom while Rob and I had a quick "date" out for dessert and a glass of wine.  Also on Tuesday night, she slept through the night for the first time!!!!! I fed her at 9:30pm, and she didnt fall asleep until 11:30pm, but she woke up again at 6am! Woohoo!!  That was the longest stretch of sleep I've had in a very long time and it felt great!

Today I took her to the doctor for the rest of her shots (awful), and they weighed her.  She weighs 9 lbs, 2 oz. Then we went over to my co-worker, Anna's, to meet her little 2 week old baby boy, Palmer.  Anna did so much for us after Adeline was born and it was nice to be able to help her for a change!  We had lunch together and chatted about being first-time moms - it was a great afternoon! Poor Palmer was not happy for the picture, and Adeline is just staring at him wondering what all the noise is about!

I'd like to think she is lovingly soothing him in this picture, and not trying to cover his mouth :)
