September

September has been a much cooler month here, which has allowed us to do lots of fun and outdoor activities - here's what we've been up to:

Labor Day weekend, we spent one rainy day at the Children's Museum.  This was our second time there, and Adeline had a blast.

The following weekend, we went to Westwood for dinner and to play on the playground.  We've been going to playgrounds frequently because Adeline loves to be outside and loves slides!

We spent a lot of time outside just hanging out in the yard.

One morning, I walked about a mile to a playground, pushing Adeline in the stroller.  Doesnt she look excited?!

Rob has been working with Adeline on her soccer skills.  She actually prefers to sit on the ball instead of kick it.  Maybe she'll be a goalie like her mom?

Yesterday, we went to Bella's second birthday party.  Unfortunately, my camera ran out of batteries and this is all I got.  Elmo made an appearance at the party but Adeline was terrified so we wouldnt have been able to get a picture anyway :)

Adeline loves bouncing with her friends!

This morning, we went to Maymont to see the animals.  It was a cool morning, almost feels like fall!

Lately

Here are just a few pictures I wanted to share before I forget -

This is Adeline walking in the kitchen with her new shoes after church.  She looks like such a big girl!

This is Rob and I before our date night in August.  Miss Chris offers date night once per quarter and we took advantage of it!  We went out to dinner with friends and had so much fun.  But we were also excited to pick up Adeline afterwards - we missed her!

This is Adeline reading in her room last weekend.  She put on her necklace, sat in her chair, crossed her legs, and read a book.  She looked like a proper little lady

This is Adeline and Rob watching football together last night.  I was doing some things upstairs and when I came down to check on them, they were just hanging out and watching the game!

SML 2

In mid-August, we headed back to Smith Mountain Lake for the weekend.  We stayed with Great-Grammie and Great-Grandad.  Adeline just loves hanging out with them and she especially loves playing with their pots and pans and spoons in the kitchen!

On Saturday night, we went out to a nice dinner. Gram and Grandad reserved a private dining room for us, which was perfect because Adeline could run around without disturbing anyone.

Thanks for another great weekend!  Hope to see you again soon!

Great-Grandpa and Nannie come to visit

My mom and grandfather came to visit the first weekend in August.  My grandfather hasn't been to Richmond before, and we were so happy he was able to make the trip with my mom.  We'd been looking forward to the weekend for months! (Adeline started calling my mom "Nannie" back in July, so I guess that's her new name!)

They arrived on Thursday afternoon.  Adeline loves books, so she was happy to have Grandpa reading to her.

I love this picture because it perfectly captures my Grandpa's "reading face".  He always makes this expression when he is reading, and as a little girl I would try to copy him.

Adeline has really started to walk more than crawl

On Friday morning, we went to Miss Chris' house to see the firetruck.

Adeline wasnt so sure about the truck, but she loves to be with her friends.

This is all the kids with some of their parents and the firefighters

Afterwards, we went to the Children's Museum for the first time. The Children's Museum of Richmond has several branches, and this one is designed for toddlers.  Adeline loved it! We will definitely go back soon.

They have a big train that periodically rides around the track.  Its actually a pretty fast ride!

Adeline discovered her love of slides at the musuem, and we've been to many playgrounds since then!

This area was similar to a sandbox but it had little rubber pellets instead of sand.  Of course Adeline did not like the pellets on her feet.

Adeline took a long nap, and then we all went to the mall to find "real" shoes for Adeline.  She had been wearing soft-soled shoes but once she started walking, she needed something with a little more support.

Poor Grandpa doesnt really like to shop, and we ended up in the craziest children's shoe store on what happened to be VA tax-free weekend.  Needless to say, it was exhausting.  But we ended up with two new pair of shoes.

After shoe shopping, we went out to dinner downtown.  It was fun to give my grandpa a little driving tour of the city

On Saturday morning, we played outside in the yard before Nannie and Great-Grandpa headed back to PA.

And we completely exhausted Adeline so she fell asleep while eating lunch! I think we might have exhausted grandpa too.

What a great weekend!  Thank you, mom and grandpa, for making the trip to see us.  We had so much fun and we love spending time with you!
