December

We've had a busy month! We traveled a lot, saw lots of family and friends, and battled some illnesses.  All 3 of us had the stomach flu early in the month and Adeline and I both had a bad cough/sinus infection as well.  Luckily, Adeline's ear tubes seem to be making a huge difference, and she bounced back much faster than I did!

We drove to PA in mid-December to spend the weekend with my family. We had our big Will Family Christmas party with all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins on my Dad's side.  It was very different this year without my Uncle Michael, but it was still good to see everyone.  Of course, I only have this one picture from the weekend - I'll have to get more from my mom.  My parents gave Adeline a baby doll, complete with a cradle, blanket, and bottle.  That doll hasnt left Adeline's side since.  She absolutely loves it, and carries it everywhere.  The baby doll even came to Christmas Eve service with us!

All of these illnesses prompted us to go back to Miss Chris for Adeline's childcare.  Although the commute to her new school was much shorter and easier, she was exposed to many children and was sick the majority of the past three months.  We decided that a smaller environment works better for her, plus we LOVE Miss Chris, and we really missed her and all of Adeline's friends there.  So her first day back with Miss Chris will be January 2nd!

Here are some pictures from Miss Chris' Christmas Party this year

The kids all move so fast, my pictures are blurry!

Adeline wasnt too sure about Santa, but the cookie helped!

On Christmas Eve, we went to the children's service at church.  Adeline was very excited to wear her pretty dress!

We will never forget this Christmas Eve Service.  It was an adorable Christmas Pageant and Adeline had a blast! She sang, jumped, and danced the whole time.  She loved pointing and saying "baby" to all of the other children.  She kept grabbing the lady's hand behind us to get her to dance, and at one point she even reached up so that the lady would pick her up!  This girl has never met a stranger.  Rob and I were sort of embarassed, but we were glad she was having so much fun!

After church, we opened our gifts

Adeline loved her new toys from my Grandparents and my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Larry.

The next morning, we woke up bright and early and drove to Raleigh to see Rob's family.

Rob's parents gave Adeline this adorable rocking horse, and she loves it!  She repeats "Adeline ride? Adeline ride?" over and over again.

Chelsea, Michael, and Cooper arrived the day after Christmas, and the cousins had so much fun playing together!

Overall, we had a great Christmas, and we are very blessed by wonderful friends and family to spend it with.

Thanksgiving 2012

This year, we hosted Thanksgiving at our house, and my family came to Richmond for the long weekend.  We put Austin and Dad to work, helping with the leaves.

My brother Ryan wasnt able to come because of work, and we really missed him.  I started cooking first thing on Thursday morning and all the food was ready by 3:30.

Adeline helped me check on the turkey

This was my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and I was very relieved that everything was warm at the same time!

On Friday, the guys played frisbee golf on the University of Richmond campus and also played some basketball.  We had fun walking through the woods and enjoying the fall-like weather.

What a fun family weekend in Richmond!

Videos!

I wanted to share some recent videos of Adeline - they are pretty funny to watch and definitely show her personality!

Dance Party
Every night around 7pm, Adeline grabs our hands and pulls us off the couch for a dance party.  This is usually her last burst of energy before bedtime, so we all stand up, turn on some music, and dance.  It's hard to capture a video of it because she insists on me dancing too, but this will give you a good idea of our nightly routine:

Naming friends and family
These videos were taken in October before Adeline had her ear tubes put in, so she can actually say these names much more clearly now.  This is one of her favorite things to do - name all of her friends at school, family, etc. Towards the end of both videos, she decided drinking milk was more interesting than talking, so that's why they cut off early.

"No!"
Adeline loves to say "no", even when she means "yes".  This video shows you how emphatic she can be about saying no.  She does know how to say yes, and nods "yes" a lot, but sometimes saying "no" is just more fun! (And by the way, I should mention here that raisins are her favorite food and she would eat them all day if we let her!)

Helicopter
One of Adeline's new words is "helicopter", which makes her Poppa very proud! Adeline is very proud of herself too!

ABCs and 123s
Adeline recently started saying her ABCs up to letter G!  She can also count to 10 with a little help, but I havent been able to get that on video yet. Here is one of her counting to 5, and then she gets distracted by Daddy coming home.

Hope you enjoyed the videos! Let me know if you have any trouble viewing them.
